Difference between Section 144, Lockdown and Curfew
- Section 144, lockdown and curfew are connected to each other. If the condition of the law and order is bad, the government can use these three power according to its own.
- The government uses section 144 when the law and order condition is bad. If circumstances do not come under control the government use the power of lockdown. Despite this, if the situation does not come under control then the government imposes curfew.
Section 144:
Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code imposes power to executive magistrate to restrict particular or a group of persons residing in a particular area while visiting a certain place or area. This move was implemented to prevent a danger to human life health and safety.
Lockdown:
In lockdown having power of District magistrate to shutting down all flights, trains and public transport. Only essential services are open. For example hospital, mediacal, and basic need.
Curfew:
District magistrate have power to impose curfew at worst law and order situation. In curfew government take strict measures to keep people inside the home. For go to outside home you take special permission from police. In this situation essential services are banned.
In all these three Situation government having power to shut down the Internet.
Punishment is given under the section 188, Section 269 and Section 270.
